Brick Fireplace Design and Installation

Scarlett Fireplaces are brick fireplace builders and we use reclaimed bricks and brick slips to create unique brick fireplace designs.

As bespoke brick fireplace designers and installers we mainly use locally sourced original reclaimed clay bricks laid with lime mortar to create our new brick fireplaces with wood burning stoves. Traditionally, visible brickwork fireplace features looked correct in inglenooks and large fireplaces because they were an integral part of the chimney breast structure. Since the 1920's visible feature brickwork used in the construction of brick fireplaces has proved popular. These modern designs (that were typically built up to the late 1980's) used brickwork solely as a design feature and can look very odd. Reclaimed bricks and brick slips for fireplaces can look stunning if they are laid in a way that looks structurally correct. Simply laying a random brick, just for the sake of it is not always the best way forward.
