It all began in 1989, when Jason Scarlett built his first brick fireplace after completing an apprenticeship with a high-quality local builder.
Experience gained scaffolding within the oil industry helped form a deep understanding of structure, safety and precision — skills that later defined his approach to chimney construction, repair and maintenance.
By 1997, Jason had inherited the client base of John Deacon, the last HETAS-registered solid fuel engineer in Essex, whose business served an ageing generation of coal and wood users.
Those early years — when the local solid fuel industry consisted of just us and a few chimney sweeps — built a foundation of practical knowledge and historic continuity that remains invaluable today.
Over three decades later, Scarlett Fireplaces has grown into a trusted name in fireplace design, chimney engineering and responsible wood heating, while staying true to the values that shaped its beginnings.
