Cast Iron mantels were produced as beautiful pieces of fireplace furniture during the Victorian period.  Many of the original cast iron mantel designs have been reproduced to enable timeless classic fireplaces to be created. Cast iron has other benefits apart from the intricate period details, these mantels act as thermal mass: storing heat from the fire for hours after the embers have died down.
