Chimney Maintenance

Chimney Maintenance, Chimney Repairs and Restoration

Scarlett Fireplaces maintain chimneys across the South East of England since 1991

Chimneys and chimney flue liners are subjected to caustic fumes and high temperatures created by the wood burning appliance they serve.

Chimney structures and flue liners also suffer because they are so exposed to the elements. The chimney brickwork and mortar can deteriorate leaving the structure unsafe and in the worst scenario, in need of dismantling and rebuilding.  Re-pointing the brick chimney mortar before the chimney deteriorates beyond repair and collapses is a better option. Regular chimney sweeping should be undertaken on at least an annual basis to check that the chimney liner is in good condition and to ensure there are no blockages or other chimney defects. Damaged chimney pots, rainhoods and cowls can block a working flue, making it dangerous to use.

Chimney Inspections

The best way to check if your chimney requires any maintenance is to have it inspected. Scarlett Fireplaces offer a comprehensive chimney inspection service. After the inspection, we will produce a chimney report to advise whether there are any chimney and flue liner defects that need attention. We will then issue a quotation to remedy any issues we find.
