Stainless steel liners
There are two grades of stainless steel liner for log burners available. 316 grade stainless steel is used as a flue where the intended fuel is just good quality dried wood. A higher 904 grade stainless steel is used as a flue liner where smokeless coal is the preferred fuel because coal emits far more corrosive fumes.
Scarlett Fireplaces supply stainless steel flexible liners for wood burners with expert chimney relining advice and design. We hold stock of various stainless steel chimney liners and associated chimney products for wood stoves, ready for pickup from our warehouse in Battlesbridge, Essex.
There are numerous types of stainless-steel liners that are designed and manufactured depending on a specific application. In the past, chimney flues were classified as class 1 or class 2. Class 1 liners are tested and certified for use with wood burning, multi fuel, and other solid fuel appliances. Class 2 liners are designed for gas and oil boilers and fires that burn at lower temperatures with less corrosive emissions. Each type of metal chimney liner and flue now has a more specific designation code that shows (among other things) the tested maximum temperature and corrosion resistance. There are various stainless steel liner installation techniques that will depend on the type and age of the chimney being relined. Scarlett Fireplaces can advise on every practical aspect and best install method for your specific liner installation to ensure the long-lasting safe effectiveness of the new flue.
