We uncovered this dilapidated fireplace and chimney breast in the Royal Terrace, Southend on Sea.
This fireplace was discovered in a Royal Terrace, in Southend-on-Sea in a truly dilapidated state. The brickwork needed much repair and restoration, Scarlett Fireplaces craftsmen replaced all loose and broken bricks and mortar repointed the entire chimney breast bringing life back to the red brick. A steel joist was incorporated to support the chimney stack and a reclaimed oak beam hung over the lintel, a simple natural slate hearth was laid to allow the beauty of the brick to take centre stage and the traditional lines of the Charnwood Island 1 wood buring stove with a new chimney flue liner, completed the fireplace restoration.
